Dear Friend,
Consider this famous moment in the life of Jesus:
“Now during those days he went out to the mountain to pray; and he spent the
night in prayer to God. And when day came, he called his disciples and chose
twelve of them, whom he also named apostles." Luke 6:12-13*
A basic
concept in the ministry of building one another is known as, “focus on a few.”
Jesus clearly enjoyed addressing groups and crowds and was open to
conversations with people who approached him like the woman at the well and
Nicodemus. At the same time, he gave himself more deeply to a few such as to
the twelve apostles, to Mary, Martha, and Lazarus.
So Jesus, “Focused on a few and loved the many!”
You “focus on a few” as you give yourself more
deeply to:
1. Those who live in your home.
2. Your family members
wherever they may be.
3. Your Bible study small group and/or ministry
team.
4. Individuals in the church in whose lives you are led to invest
yourself.
5. Individuals in the community and world in whose lives you
are led to invest yourself.
You “love the many” when you show interest
and offer compassion to everyone our Lord brings into your life.
Be grateful for those who focused their
love on you and with you have grown as friends and as disciples of Jesus!
Joy to you –
E. Stanley Ott
